REUTERS/Elena Rodriguez Global cyber outage A global tech outage is disrupting operations in multiple industries, with airlines halting flights, some broadcasters off-air and everything from banking to healthcare hit by system problems. While major US airlines grounded flights, other carriers and airports around the world reported delays and disruptions. Australia's government said outages suffered by media, banks and telecoms companies there appeared to be linked to an issue at global cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike. Here's a list of disruptions that have been reported. US election Donald Trump described how he narrowly survived an attempt on his life, telling a rapt audience at the Republican National Convention in his first speech since the attack that he was only there "by the grace of Almighty God."  But he swiftly pivoted away from a unity theme, claiming without evidence that his criminal indictments were part of a Democratic conspiracy and predicting President Joe Biden would usher in "World War Three." We look at how Trump trampled on the Republican Party's effort to give him an image makeover. Biden is taking calls to step aside as the presidential candidate seriously and multiple Democratic officials think an exit is a matter of time. In other news Television news channels in Bangladesh were off the air and telecommunications were widely disrupted amid violent student protests against quotas for government jobs in which nearly two dozen people have been killed this week. A large, long-range drone hit the center of Tel Aviv, in an attack claimed by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia that killed one man and slightly wounded four others. Pakistani counter-terror officials have arrested an Al-Qaeda leader, Amin ul Haq, who figures on a U.N. sanctions list, describing him as a close associate of Osama Bin Laden. Two large oil tankers were on fire after colliding in waters near Singapore, the world's biggest refuelling port, with two crew members airlifted to hospital and others rescued from life rafts. Business & Markets   Chinese officials acknowledged the sweeping list of economic goals re-emphasised at the end of a key Communist Party meeting this week contained "many complex contradictions," pointing to a bumpy road ahead for policy implementation. Japan's government cut this year's growth forecast as consumption took a hit from rising import costs due to a weak yen, highlighting the fragile nature of the economic recovery. Netflix said it added more than 8 million subscribers in its second quarter as the streaming service benefited from a password-sharing crackdown and the popularity of such titles as 'Bridgerton,' 'Baby Reindeer' and 'The Roast of Tom Brady.' Registrations of Tesla cars in California fell 24% in the April to June period, marking the third consecutive quarter that the company posted a sales drop in its key market, indicating mounting challenges for the EV maker. Consumer goods giants including Nestle, Kraft Heinz and Reckitt are likely to report weak second-quarter sales growth from Europe and the United States, as consumers opt for brands that have been better at slowing price hikes, Nielsen data shows. The Week Ahead There is rarely a dull moment in markets and the coming week is no exception, with make-or-break US inflation data, tough questions coming up over international financing for Ukraine and all against a backdrop of a fraught US presidential race. Earnings will be front and center, as members of the 'Magnificent 7' report results, along with major banks.  In industry news, the UK's Farnborough Airshow kicks off - a big event when planemakers often announce major orders. In geopolitics, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Netanyahu will be in Washington for an address to a joint session of Congress. And in sport, the Paris Olympics opens.
